Hand picked by Dr. Jim Vickers from the ranch of Don Julio Barreda of Estancia Accoyo, Augusto was one of the finest males to ever leave Peru and is curently acknowledged as one of the most outstanding white huacaya males in North America. His offspring continue to dominate in the fiber shows as well as the show ring.

PPPeruvian Augusto sold in the 2000 Breeder's Choice Auction to Five Star Alpacas for $226,000, a world record price that stood for a number of years.

In Peru Augusto’s registered name was Kansas, son of Killahuisi, one of the best studs to serve at Magada de Selectas which features alpacas characterized by their fine wool.  In a letter from Julio Barreda in 1995 he writes “I am positive that whoever buys Kansas will be satisfied.”
